What do you mean by self storage?
Self Storage or DIY storage is defined as the direct storage by individuals and companies of goods in their own exclusively occupied, self-contained, secured rooms/spaces, which form the major or primary use within a larger building or complex.
What are your opening times?
We are open 7 days per week and our reception opening hours are: Monday to Friday 0830 - 1800, Saturday 0900 - 1600 and Sunday 1000 - 1400.

Can I move in today?
Yes. If we have an available unit for you and subject to filling out the paperwork, you can move your possessions in straightaway.
What do I need to bring with me to rent a unit?
Two forms of ID to include either your passport, driving license or any other photographic proof.
Are there any hidden costs?
Certainly not! We are full members of the UK Self Storage Association and abide by very stringent trading procedures.
Payment methods?
Your first payment must be either by debit or credit card. Subsequent payments can either be taken by direct debit or by automatic monthly withdrawals from your card.
What can't I store?
We cannot store explosives, firearms, chemicals or compressed gasses. For a full list please contact your nearest branch.
What security measures are in place?
Every Crown Self Storage site takes security very seriously. You can rest assured that your stored goods are extremely well protected with 24 hour CCTV surveillance, two alarm systems, well lit corridors, laser smoke detectors and regular staff patrols. Each unit is individually alarmed and you are the only person that holds the key to your personal padlock. In addition each branch is connected to the Police and Fire service by BT Redcare.
How can I access my unit?
Accessing your unit is very easy. Simply drive up to the main gates, swipe your card to de-activate your unit's alarm and enter the facility. You will have the key to your own padlock on your unit?s door. Please remember to swipe your card as you leave to re-activate your unit?s alarm.
Do you do removals?
We can arrange removals for you. Please contact your local branch for more details.
Need a car or van?
Crown Self Storage has teamed up with Enterprise Rent A Car to offer you preferential rates on car and van hire. Please contact us and we will give you a special code to quote when booking your vehicle through Enterprise.
Do you sell boxes?
Yes we sell a wide range of boxes and other packaging materials in every branch.
What about insurance?
Crown removes the hassle of insurance as we can arrange to have goods insured directly at a rate of £3 per £1000 of cover per month.
What is the minimum rental period?
There is no minimum rental period at Crown. Unlike so many other storage operators, Crown offers the greatest flexibility especially for you.
Do I have to serve notice if I want to leave?
We require two weeks notice prior to your departure.
How high are your storage units?
As our units are just under 3 metres high this allows you to stack and place items of furniture up on end.
